Hosting an event during Citizen Science Month helps more people participate in real scientific research and contribute to the shared goal of 2.50 million Acts of Science, in celebration of America’s 250th Birthday. Libraries, museums, schools, Girl Scouts, educators, community organizations, and partners host events of all kinds throughout April. Events can be small or large, in-person or virtual, one-time or ongoing.
No prior experience is required. SciStarter provides guidance, tools, and support.

Option 1: Acts of Science: Connected Events
New for 2026!
Acts of Science: Connected is a featured live event series where communities everywhere make Acts of Science together at the same time, guided by project scientists. Best for hosts who want:
- A turnkey experience
- A scheduled live event
- Step-by-step guidance
SciStarter provides the virtual event, facilitator resources, and promotional materials. You provide the space and invite your community.
Easy to host. Minimal preparation.
Option 2: Any Citizen Science Event
You can host any citizen science project or activity that fits your community. Examples include:
- Hands-on workshops
- Outdoor data collection activities
- Project demonstrations
- Classroom or after-school programs
- Discussion groups or hack-along sessions

Option 3: Supporting or Promoting Events
Not ready to host? You can still help by:

Hosting can be as simple as livestreaming an event and inviting people to participate together.

- Choose Your Act of Science: Select a project, activity, or Acts of Science: Connected event. Use the Project Finder to search by topic or location.
- Invite Your Community: Use SciStarter’s templates and resources to promote your event.
- Host and Participate Together: Guide participants as they make Acts of Science.
- Celebrate and Report: Encourage participants to share photos using #ActsofScience and report Acts using the Report Acts tab (coming soon).
Help Acts of Science Count
Host-led events play a key role in reaching 2.50 million Acts of Science:

Photos may appear on the Wall of Fame, and participants may be eligible for prizes and recognition.
Get Assistance From Trained Volunteers
SciStarter Ambassadors and NASA Solar System Ambassadors help support Citizen Science Month events by:
