Disney Conservation

Help Disney Conservation do more—right from where you are

For 30+ years, Disney has supported conservation worldwide. Now you can add your voice—and your data—to that impact through citizen science. With SciStarter, Disney cast members and friends can join simple, real research activities that protect wildlife, habitats, and our planet. Observe pollinators in your yard, measure night sky brightness on your evening walk, or snap photos of local biodiversity on your next park visit—each contribution helps scientists make better decisions, faster.

How the Program Works

  • Pick a project from the curated list on the “Projects” tab (e.g., iNaturalist, Globe at Night, The Great Sunflower Project). Each one has clear instructions and takes minutes to try.
  • Do a small task—like taking a photo, logging a species, or comparing star charts—and submit it to the project.
  • See your impact grow as thousands of small actions roll up to big insights for conservation science, supported by Disney’s long-standing commitment to nature.
What to Expect

Short, guided activities; beginner-friendly tools; and a supportive community with tips, stories, and resources to keep you going. Whether you have five minutes or an hour, there’s a meaningful way to help today.

What is citizen science?

It’s when people volunteer, anytime, anywhere, to help scientists with research by collecting or analyzing data, across all areas of science. Your contributions might help measure light pollution that affects migrating birds, track pollinator activity critical to food systems, or monitor seasonal changes in plants and animals as our climate shifts. Each small action adds up to powerful data that fuels conservation decisions.

Browse the Projects section and select something that fits your interests and time–– try iNaturalist (photograph and upload wildlife), Globe at Night (measure light pollution), or The Great Sunflower Project (watch pollinators). Each project page tells you what you’ll do and why it matters.

Create or sign in to your SciStarter account so you can track your progress. Then open the project’s “Project Website” link for step-by-step instructions (most activities use your phone’s camera or a simple web form—no special gear needed).

3. Make and submit your first observation

Follow the prompts, submit your data, and you’re officially contributing to conservation science. Come back anytime to add more observations or try another project

Tips for success

  • Anytime, anywhere: Most projects work wherever you are—at home, on a walk, or during travel.
  • Short on time? Pick “anytime/anywhere” projects for quick wins; even one observation helps.
  • Bring a friend or team: Turn a lunch break or family outing into a micro-mission for nature.
  • Track your impact: Your SciStarter dashboard shows projects you’ve joined and contributions you’ve made.
  • Test your knowledge:  Complete the interactive, self-guided Foundations of Citizen Science training to test your knowledge and earn a digital badge.

Ready to help?

Head to Projects, pick one, and try your first observation today. Your small action can power big conservation decisions—thank you for being part of the story

The projects below reflect the mission of the Disney Conservation Fund. Together, we can help restore ecosystems, protect at-risk species like sea turtles, butterflies, and coral reefs, and inspire communities to take action for a healthier planet.
