We’ve got more than 100 events scheduled for Citizen Science Month, with something every day in April. Hear straight from researchers about the biggest problems citizen scientists are solving, get introduced to new projects and let your kids spend Saturday morning with Disney+ science stars. We’re turning curiosity into real-life impact all month long. Come see what SciStarter has planned!

Citizen Science Kids Day

Saturday, April 3 – 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. EDT

Calling all kids ages 6 to 14! Spend Saturday morning with SciStarter, TIME for Kids, National Geographic’s “Weird But True!” and PBS’s “SciGirls.” Kid Reporters will moderate the live event, interview celebrities and make sure YOUR questions get answered.

Citizen Science Kids Day is presented by SciStarter, and the first 100 registrants who attend get a free TIME for Kids subscription.

The Promise and Pitfalls of Citizen Science

Monday, April 5 – 1 P.M. to 2:30 PM EDT

Was Benjamin Franklin a citizen scientist?

The American Philosophical Society’s Library & Museum is hosting a weeklong virtual symposium that considers the historic relationship between science and public life.

It’s like brain food for people interested in what researchers are talking about. The free keynote presentation on Monday, April 5 explores “The Promise and Pitfalls of Citizen Science.”

Nerd Nite

Tuesday, April 6 – 8 P.M. EDT

Why do hangovers hurt so bad? And what disappointing world records are out there for the breaking?

Join neuroscientist Paula Croxson, who studies Alzheimer’s disease at Mount Sinai, and Nerd Nite Big Boss Matt Wasowski for a pair of fun presentations. Stick around afterward for the “dry T-shirt contest” and compete for the nerdiest T-shirt.

Introduction to Citizen Science

Monday, April 12 – 2 P.M. EDT

You’re curious. You’re concerned. You want to make a difference. Good news! You can do real science, at any time, by becoming a citizen scientist.

Join trained facilitators for an introduction to citizen science. The event facilitators are retirees trained by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Arizona State University, SciStarter & ASU Library. Cheer on our senior citizens as they show you what they’ve learned in a recent class!

Citizen Science Around the World

Wednesday, April 14 – 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. EDT

Citizen science is global. Anyone, anywhere around the globe can engage in real scientific research. Join SciStarter on Zoom to hear from speakers on seven different continents, including Antarctica! Learn about citizen science origins, trends and outcomes in this accessible and free event.

Citizen Science Podcast

The new season of our Citizen Science Podcast has begun! Tune in to our two latest episodes to learn about how you can travel the world (virtually) with citizen science and how libraries are moving science forward this Citizen Science Month.
