On April 16, 2026, we participated in the #1 project on SciStarter, Stall Catchers, which accelerates Alzheimer’s disease research through a gamified interface.
Set Up Instructions
- Create a free SciStarter account: SciStarter.org/login.
For participants under 13, adults can set up a family account or educators can create a set of class accounts. - Sign up for Stall Catchers! Visit StallCatchers.com and use the same email you used to sign up for SciStarter. This ensures all your participation counts towards 2.50 Million Acts of Science and beyond!
- Take the tour and test your ability to recognize stalled blood flow with the training movies. Once the game thinks you’re ready, you will be shown movies from the most recent dataset that needs your help. Play for as long or little as you can!
- [Optional] Join the Leaderboard! Create a team and choose the “SciStarter League” in the editor, or join team “Acts of Science: Connected 2026” to be added into the League!
Note: If you are a Girl Scout, your Special Leaderboard is here.

Acts of Science – Make it Count!
The SciStarter team will report the Acts of Science completed during the April 16th event. If you sign onto zoom with us at any point during this event, you will be included in our official attendance report too.
Continue participating and report all the classifications you complete in April to CitizenScienceMonth.org/report!
Let’s See the Impact
On April 16th, we annotated 16,500+ blood vessels! This is triple the daily average on Stall Catchers.
Citizen scientists continue to demonstrate what’s possible, bringing us one step closer to advancing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. Our participation saved the researchers an estimated 42 hours of lab work.
Shoutout to our top catchers:
🥇 Tessa (Northampton Area Public Library)
🥈 Amanda (North Webster Community Public Library – North Webster, Indiana)
🥉 “Futurebooks” (Peoria AZ Public Library System)
Volunteers demonstrate what’s possible—again. This time, pushing us closer to finding treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
Keep the momentum going! The Leaderboard is live through the end of April. Join team “Acts of Science: Connected 2026” for a shot at being one of the Top 10 Catchers. Created your own team for a group or library? That works too! Just update your team settings to join the SciStarter League.

This project is available 24/7/365! Use our Take Home Flyer to start up again anytime.
