DESCRIPTION
In this Do NASA Science LIVE! event, we heard from Sadie Coffin, the project leader of Redshift Wrangler, a citizen science project that looks back in time to the early universe to discover how galaxies have evolved and how distant they are from us. We learned about the power of using light (redshift) as a measuring tool, how to scan graphs of light spectra deep in space, and how to map “emission lines,” that scientists use to make these deep space discoveries.
Do NASA Science LIVE! is a virtual event series in which we feature NASA citizen science projects that need your help. During the events, we’ll learn about a project, hear from a project scientist, and do the project together. Your questions will be answered in real-time, too! All you need is a computer, iPad, or smartphone with Wi-Fi…and your curiosity!
Visit SciStarter.org/NASA to check out all Do NASA Science LIVE events! Best for ages 13 and older. You don’t need any prior experience or specialized equipment.
Redshift Wrangler is a SciStarter Affiliate Project! Set it up in 3 easy steps:
